Work ABROAD
This non-profit provides work visas for young Americans at very reasonable prices. Current destinations available include Australia, Britain, Canada and Ireland
OK, this isn’t abroad, but it is an international opportunity. Each year this full immersion language school hires more than 1,000 young people, both American and international, to work at its Minnesota camps. Types of hires include counselors, teachers and support positions at all levels.
Go Overseas has a great Australia page where they provide information on obtaining a short-term Australian work visa as well as opportunities to work in Australia.
A very famous website that is a great starting point for those looking for teaching abroad positions. The site includes invaluable information and job boards.
This is a great website with many teaching positions all around the world — some with extremely high salaries.
U.S. Teaching Assistantships at Austrian Secondary Schools
Once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to teach English in Austria through the Austrian government. Positions are located all-round the country, and are paid.
Chilean Government English Open Doors Program
Each year, the Chilean government hires native speakers of English to teach in their public schools. This is a wonderful opportunity to have a short-term paid position in South America.
French Government English Teaching Assistantships
The Government of France hires native speakers of many different languages to teach in their public schools. Appointments are for ten months and are paid.
JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Program USA
The JET Program offers the opportunity to work and live in cities, towns, and villages throughout Japan. Most participants serve as Assistant Language Teacher and work in public and private schools throughout Japan; some work as Coordinators for International Relations as interpreters/ translators.
Spanish Government North American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain
Each year, the government of Spain hires hundreds of native speakers of English to teach in their public schools. The Spanish government site has plenty of details on this program along with a link to the online application.
CIEE offers teacher placement for a fee, but the placements are guaranteed, vetted and paid.
This organization offers free stays abroad for Americans who will serve as conversation helpers for English language learners.
